Christian Busy-Ness and Spiritual Insights

As a follower of Christ, it is an honor to be about God's business - to be serving Him and doing the things that I believe that He would want me to do.

But what about when I get involved in so many things that I am just too busy to have any time for anything else? It's one thing to be about God's business, but I have to be careful to not get overwhelmed with busy-ness. That's when I think I'm doing everything that God would want me to do, and He's giving me the sign that He was OK six activities ago!

It's not that I don't want to be doing these things for Him, I just know that He wouldn't want me to be doing so many things that I take my focus away from why I'm doing them - to bring Him pleasure.

Speaking of bringing Him pleasure, I know that every day - nearly every hour of every day - I am thinking and diong things that aren't pleasing to Him, either by doing what He hates, or not doing what He loves. Does this mean that I'm in fear of God's punishment 24-7? No, I am absolutely not in fear of His punishment, because I know that He is a God of grace. But I am cautious not to squander away His grace, because it is a gift from Him that He freely gives to me as one of His adopted children.

If you are looking for some deep spiritual insight in all of this, I can't say that I can deliver. I do know, however, that one of the things that I am about this year will give you deeper insight into His love.

My wife and I have committed to read through the Bible together this year. It will be my fifth time starting the Bible, and my fourth time reading through it completely. Last year I started to read through, but about mid-way through the year I was too - BUSY - to finish it!

If you've never read through the Bible, or never read the book of John, or the Proverbs, then find God's wisdom there.

You may be surprised at the spiritual insights you get from God's love letter to you.
